“That Undiscovered Country…..”

Brother Jim Ike LeddonJimmy Ike Leddon, age 68, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., passed away Feb. 12, 2008, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side.
Jim was born on June 11, 1939, in Glenwood, Ala., to the late R.J. and Cupideen Leddon. In the early 60s, Jim began driving a truck for Henko Poultry.
It was here that he met and married his loving wife of 42 years, Faye Reeves. In 1967 the couple moved to Atlanta where he was employed by Bowman Transportation.
In 1973, Jim and Faye moved to Freeport, Fla., where they made their home for 22 years. They raised two sons, James Ike and Jason Na-thanael Leddon.
Jim shared his enthusiasm of the water with his sons Jamie and Jason and two sons from a previous marriage, Ricky and Dewayne, by teaching them his trade of harvesting
oysters and shrimp, and fishing. First American Farms was the setting where he taught his sons his love of hunting. These are hobbies all the sons still enjoy today.
In 1994, he began sawing the lumber and built the family a home in Glendale, Fla. This is how he spent his days using his hands to create the remarkable workmanship in each room.
Jim never met a stranger and loved talking to people about all the good old days. Nothing was more special to him than his grandsons. Few days went by that he didn’t
have them out fishing, sawing lumber, driving his truck through the fields or just riding the golf cart around the farm. The last few years of his life he enjoyed sharing with
them his love for fishing and boating at their getaway home at Lake Eufaula. Some of the best times the family shared together were at the Lake on the pontoon boat fishing
and swimming. Jim made his family and friends laugh on a daily basis. He never lost his sense of humor and was always more concerned about his fam-ily’s well being than his own.
He will be greatly missed by all. Jim was predeceased by his parents, R. J. and Cupideen Leddon; and two brothers, Leo and Chester Leddon.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Faye Leddon; sons, Ricky Leddon of Hendersonville, N.C., Dewayne Leddon of Houston, Jamie and wife Stacey Leddon of Gaskin, Fla.,
and Jason Leddon and Heather Radney of Gaskin; sisters, Bonnie and husband Ben Webb of Lynn Haven, Fla., and Voncille and husband Wesley Spivey of Andalusia, Ala.; a brother,
Bill and wife Gabi Leddon of Florala, Ala.; four grandsons, Ryan Todd, Clay, Jackson and Carson Leddon; and a very near and dear friend, Janie Griffith.
Pallbearers will be Tony Sunday, Don Bozeman, Dalton Spears, Mike Downham, James Crum and Tim Chrishon. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge.
A time of visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 15, at the First Baptist Church of Gaskin from 6 until 8 p.m.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Gaskin with the Revs. John Wesley Spivey and Joel Davis officiating.
Interment was in the Gaskin Cemetery with Masonic rites and military honors.
